Loveland, Colorado –State Representative Cory Gardner won the Republican nomination today, earning the right to challenge Congresswoman Betsy Markey in the 4th Congressional District.
“It is an honor to earn the Republican nomination in the 4th Congressional District,” said Gardner. “From Larimer County to Baca County, the grassroots support from across the district has been amazing.”
Gardner won the nomination at the Colorado 4th District Assembly. To be placed on the ballot, a candidate needed at least a 30% vote from delegates. Gardner received over 60% of the vote, and no other candidate reached the 30% threshold.
“The campaign does not end today, it begins today,” said Gardner. “We will continue to bring our message of fiscal restraint and limited government directly to voters all the way through November.”
Cory Gardner is a native of Yuma, Colorado where he helps to run the family business. Gardner is currently serving the 63rd District in the Colorado House of Representatives. He and his wife Jaime live in Yuma with their six- year old daughter Alyson.
