Concerned Women Political Action Committee Endorses Colorado State Representative Cory Gardner for Congress in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District

Cory is a proven conservative legislator who can take this seat back for conservatives.

Washington, D.C. – Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC)  has announced its endorsement of Cory Gardner for Congress in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.  
Concerned Women PAC is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.

The 4th District is currently represented in Congress by liberal Democrat Congresswoman Betsy Markey, who was elected in 2008.  Pro-abortion advocate EMILY’s List has made the defense of Betsey Markey’s seat a top priority in 2010. 

This race is considered a toss up by both the Rothenberg Report and the Cook Political Report.  In last year’s presidential contest, Senator John McCain carried this district with 50 percent of the vote. However, President George Bush won the district by 58 percent in 2004.  Despite the conservative leanings of the district, Betsy Markey has insisted on voting left of her constituents. 

Rep. Markey recently voted against the Stupak Amendment that would have prohibited coverage for abortions by insurance companies in the overall government take over of health care.  She also voted in favor of the recent omnibus bill which included an increase of $10 million for Title X funding with the bulk of those taxpayer dollars going to Planned Parenthood.  The omnibus bill also gave $103 million to international “family planning” organizations, in effect forcing the American taxpayer to indirectly promote and fund abortions abroad. 

Markey also voted for so-called hate crimes and the massive stimulus package.
In fact, Rep. Markey has voted for the Pelosi agenda over 97 percent of the time.

Colorado State Representative Cory Gardner offers a sharp contrast to Rep. Markey.

His record in the legislature is as a solid conservative and has been recognized by his Republican colleagues as a leader who elected him House Minority Whip. Cory Gardner is a proven across the board conservative with the legislative record on both fiscal and social issues to prove it.
