Major District 4 candidate exits race, throws support behind Gardner

Fort Collins, Colorado – Councilman Diggs Brown, a major candidate in the 4th District Republican primary, exited the race today and threw his support behind State Representative Cory Gardner.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Diggs Brown,” said Gardner. “Nobody is more respected in their hometown than Diggs Brown is in Fort Collins. Diggs has devoted his career to public service, and is a distinguished military veteran. I am humbled to have his support, and honored to have him be an active part of our campaign team.”

Brown, a 30-year military veteran who is currently a Major in the Colorado National Guard, will join the Gardner for Congress campaign team as a campaign co-chair. He will focus on efforts in the Fort Collins area, where he has served for 5 years and enjoys a strong base of support.

“There is one clear goal: defeat Betsy Markey in November,” said Brown. “Betsy Markey has been wrong on Cap & Trade, wrong on card-check and wrong on the stimulus. She is wrong for Colorado. I am happy to unite with Cory Gardner to make our goal of beating Betsy Markey in November a reality.”

Cory Gardner is a native of Yuma, Colorado where he helps to run the family business. He is currently serving the 63rd District in the Colorado House of Representatives. He and his wife Jaime live in Yuma with their daughter Alyson.
