BEC to host Republican State Convention in 2010 LOVELAND — The Budweiser Events Center and Embassy Suites hotel will be the site of the 2010 Republican State Convention.
Larry Carillo, Larimer County Republican Party chairman and a member of the Colorado Republican Committee, said the decision was finalized Friday. The party’s congressional district candidates will be selected Friday, May 21, in a session at Embassy Suites. The state assembly will be held Saturday, May 22, at the Budweiser Events Center, where the party will select candidates for senator and governor.
At the party’s annual Flag Day Shrimp Boil on Friday, the 340 people in attendance participated in a straw poll on their choices of likely candidates next year.
In the 4th Congressional District race, Carillo said Cory Gardner won 44 percent of the vote, Diggs Brown 34 percent and Tom Lucero 21 percent.
For U.S. Senate, Ken Buck had 49 percent, Ryan Frazier 47 percent and Cleve Tidwell 4 percent. For the governor’s seat, Scott McInnis took 39 percent, Josh Penry 36 percent, Dan Maes 24 percent.
