Number of Jobs “Created or Saved” by Stimulus Can Not Be Proven; Is Health Care Reform Next?
LOVELAND, CO – Pressed by Republicans about errors in stimulus job creation numbers, the man in charge of federal oversight of the program admitted he can not certify the President’s job statistics.
During his testimony before Congress, Recovery Board Chairman Earl Devaney said, “No, I am not able to make this certification,” in response to whether the number of jobs reported as created/saved on www.Recovery.gov is accurate and auditable.
For the citizens of Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, false numbers and unproven jobs are not acceptable. While Betsy Markey chose to support the failed stimulus bill, Republican challenger Cory Gardner believes the plan delivered only waste, inefficiency, and worst of all, no new jobs.
Even Colorado’s Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. admitted problems exist with his fellow Democrats’ stimulus bill.
“I do think the administration may have oversold the early job creation part of it like people thinking well, we’re going to work in March, April, and May of this year. And quite frankly, there was going to be a lag effect in everything with the exception of transportation, the water and the weatherization jobs,” he said.
Still, the Obama administration continues to claim over 1 million jobs saved or created in 2009. Media reports however show errors in that information, including jobs created in congressional districts that don’t even exist.
The Democrats in Washington have proven they can not be trusted with our tax dollars, and now they want to take over our health care system. Their idea of health care reform is not about improving patient care, but is a power grab of a full 1/6th of the United States’ economy.
Gardner and Republican leaders continue to offer solutions to the health care issue, including tort reform and access to insurance across state lines, while Democrats believe more government bureaucracy is the answer.
Cory Gardner understands that the hard working people of the 4th Congressional District in Colorado can’t afford more wasted money, greater government control, and one more failed Democrat plan that hurts every family.
